Welcome from Admissions!
Thank you for your interest in Purnell School! This website will give you an introduction to our school and what makes us unique. My name is Nicole Moon and I have been working here as the Director of Admissions since 2006. Girls enroll at Purnell because they want to learn in a community where their strengths are celebrated. I know this from experience because I have lived it; I graduated from Purnell in 1990.
Purnell is committed to girls, their individual learning styles, and guiding them into the 21st Century. Girls need to gain hands-on, real world experience if they are going to be out in the workforce. Our teachers bring problem solving, critical thinking, global awareness, and technology into the classrooms.
Purnell is a school where girls can study engineering, film, art, theater or dance and try many new things like I did. My favorite time of year was Project Exploration, which we still do today. Project Exploration is a mini-term where you can immerse yourself in a course of study, whether it's acting, teaching, nursing, or community service in Zambia. During this time, girls are learning with real world experiences.
My fellow Alumnae have gone on to become journalists and teachers, live and work all over the world, and save lives as combat medics, nurses, and firefighters. They work in fashion and jewelry design, earn their PhDs, volunteer in the Peace Corp and become film makers, social workers, and activists. Purnell graduates change the world.
I encourage you to visit, come see the students and faculty, sit in on a class, and get a feel for what it is like to be here. I still remember the day I visited Purnell, I knew right then this was a school that was going to help me recognize my potential. Come see for yourself!
