Dorm Life

Dorm living at Purnell is a vital extension of the School's mission to create a family atmosphere, which supports and nurtures each girl's growth and individuality. Friendships are formed and nurtured in the dorms. Each evening, students enjoy free time in the common areas of each dorm, and in the student café and dining hall. There is as much meaningful learning that occurs in the dorms as anywhere else on campus. Dorm parents live on each hall and provide a caring adult presence while allowing students to manage their own time and activities. Students in grades 9-11 have 11 pm bedtime, while seniors are allowed more freedom to set their own schedule.

Dormitory life at Purnell is based on the School's guidelines of common sense, truthful relationships, and consideration of others. All dormitory rules are derived from those three simple guidelines, and students gain lifelong skills for living in community by learning how to live by those expectations.
