Like everything at Purnell, the college acceptance process is personal and individualized. We assist each student in finding the program in the college or university that is most appropriate for her interests and needs. Our experience tells us that there is the right college for every girl who wants to attend. 
College guidance begins with preparation for the PSAT. Students take the PSAT in both the 10th and 11th grades in order to get them comfortable with taking the test and to serve as a benchmark for planning to take the SAT. Many students have accommodations made for extended time test-taking.
Senior English at Purnell places special emphasis on writing for a public audience and students work on college essays and applications under the guidance of both the College Counseling Office and the English Department during the fall trimester. We invite colleges and universities to come to campus to talk about their programs and to familiarize the girls with college admissions officers. We assist in all steps along the road to college placement. Purnell understands the anxiety surrounding this process and we work closely with families to ensure thorough understanding of the process.
