Purnell offers highly individualized student services. While most schools have advising, our program provides each girl one-on-one advisor time for a half hour or more weekly. Our school day has an hour built in when teachers are on hand to provide extra help. This time does not conflict with any other scheduled events. Our learning specialists work with teachers so teachers can make seamless accommodations for learning disabilities in the classroom.
Additionally, students are served by an Academic Dean who oversees the academic program, a College Counselor and a Dean of Students who coordinates deans at each grade level. The Residential Life program works closely with all these support systems to make sure no student is allowed to fall through the cracks. Faculty members are trained in CPR and first aid. Students are driven to events by drivers who have commercial driving certification in the State of New Jersey.
