To leave money or property to Purnell School using a percentage bequest, you and your advisors may find the following sample language helpful:

I hereby give, devise, and bequeath to Purnell School, an educational non profit 501(c)(3) corporation located at 52 Pottersville Road in Pottersville, New Jersey, for its general charitable and educational purposes, (xx) percent of my taxable estate.

Here is an example of how this type of bequest might work:

John Doe has made a percentage bequests in his will which calls for 10% of his net estate to go to Purnell School. John's estate was valued at $780,000.00 at the time of his death. After John's estate had been settled and all of the taxes, debts, expenses and other non-percentage bequests had been satisfied it was determined that the value of his estate was $189,000.00. Using this example, Purnell would receive a gift of $18,900.00 from John's estate.
