Purnell's 1,200 alumnae are a dynamic group of women who continue to play an important role in the life of the school through their service on the Board of Trustees, and their ongoing support of Purnell. Alumnae have strengthened the school's programs through endowed programs, gifts to the annual campaign and support of capital projects over the years.

Purnell hosts an alumnae reunion every third spring for all classes and publishes an annual alumnae magazine, the Purnell Post as well as a quarterly newsletter. Many alumnae open their homes to host Purnell events in their area.
