The annual fund is established to provide the School operating funds which are not covered by tuition. As a tuition driven school, we can only raise the tuition so much before our education becomes completely unaffordable for the students who need us. Each year costs of living, salaries, insurance and buildings and grounds, deferred maintenance, transportation and food and health services need more money than our tuition can be expected to cover. Like most nonprofit organizations we depend on the generosity of our supporters to help us meet operating costs. The annual fund goes directly into the annual operating budget, while gifts to the endowment allow us to use interest from the endowments' principle to also support our operations. Both sources are needed to cover costs.
