SEPTEMBER

GIGI FOUQUET and FRIENDS, ROCK BAND
What better way to celebrate a new school year than to see a successful alumna do the thing she loves, and it's something she LEARNED at Purnell! That's right! Up and coming NYC singer-songwriter, Gigi Fouquet, graduated from Purnell in 2002, where she first started taking guitar lessons as a sophomore. The rest is history-in-the-making. You can say you saw her here first.

STEVE PATIENT COMEDY MADMAN,  Comic Juggler
He eats fire and juggles bowling balls, and no audience could forget how he pommels himself in the head with his juggling clubs. Ouch! Only days back from a European tour, this Purnell favorite will have you holding your sides in laughter.

KARLUS TRAPP, Eclectic Musician
With a funky bass at the bottom of it all for your hips and feet, KARLUS TRAPP'S bluesy pop rock mix takes you to New Orleans, Jamaica, New York, and all the funky places in between. He has opened for such diverse artists as Tuck and Patti, Luka Bloom, and legends of Folk and Rock Ritchie Havens and Buddy Miles. And now he's here at Purnell!

SKYLR, Hypnotist
In conjunction with Res. Life's Community Service Weekend
The Skylr Experience Comedy Hypnosis Show will amaze you with the power of suggestion as participants perform some pretty crazy stunts. With the added fun of invited guests for Community Service Weekend, we continue the tradition of a hilarious evening for those both on stage and off.

A culmination of the Fall semester rehearsals, Purnell's Performing Groups perform for a full night of entertainment.

MONTÄZH PERFORMING ARTS COMPANY
All Women's Hip Hop Dance
Philadelphia's all female hip-hop dance company is back again! The company was born when fellow dancers Michele Byrd-McPhee and Crystal Frazier came together in October of 1998 to discuss their frustration with limited performance opportunities for female hip-hop dancers in the Philadelphia area. The company is dedicated to providing women of
all different ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds with opportunities to dance within and gain access to the hip-hop community.

Sample work created and performed by students in Fall performing arts and studio arts classes with a special presentation by the Class of 2012.


JANUARY

IONISATION NEW MUSIC ENSEMBLE
Produced by New Jersey Arts Collective (NJAC)
In celebration of Peace and Justice Weekend
This collaborative program pairs the professional musicians of Ionisation New Music Ensemble with Purnell School Performing Arts faculty and students to presenting Stravinsky's anti-war dance and theatre piece, "Histoire du Soldat" ("Soldier's Tale"). Companioned with an original piece written post-9/11 called "Normalcy" by NJ-based composer, Darren Gage, this evening of artistic collaboration will center on the need for peace.


FEBRUARY

The THREE MADKINIs, Singer/Songwriters
Phenomenal Women Weekend
Although they have never before shared the same stage, singer/songwriters Nicole Collins, Kiara Duran and Maddy Wyatt will show you what a phenomenal woman can do armed only with a guitar and a passionate soul.

NEVERMORE: The Final Nightmares of Edgar Allan Poe, Shakespeare Live!
Always a weekend of exciting artistic events. On Friday evening you will be enthralled by the eclectic talents of Circus Bambouk, clown artists, Matthew Duncan and Brian Foley. On Saturday, The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey's traveling company will present a look into the dark tales and darker life of one of America's most enigmatic authors.
