Peer Leadership is a student-driven, service-oriented program. Twelfth grade students who have distinguished themselves as leaders in the school are elected to enroll in the Peer Leadership Program. This select group of Seniors lead small group discussions with new and returning students in the afternoons and evenings. The Peer Group discussions are designed to help new students adjust to their new environment, to become familiar with the School's philosophy, and to learn about the values of personal responsibility and decision-making while interacting with peers who have been through the same experiences. Peer Leaders receive training from the Director of Guidance, but the groups are planned and led by students.

Our Peer Leadership Program utilizes one of our most important resources -- the students themselves. Realizing that peer influence predominates during the teen years, this program encourages students to reach out and care about one another. The concept of "youth helping youth" is one that benefits the leaders by developing their self-esteem and confidence, and the new students by providing them support and the opportunity to trust and care about one another.
