ROLE AT PURNELL: Head of School
FAVORITE PART ABOUT WORKING AT PURNELL:
I love that Purnell is an all-girls’ school because I have been an ardent supporter of single-sex education for young women and girls for many years. Having gone to a women’s college and taught at an all girls’ school prior to coming to Purnell, I feel especially connected to this community and its mission. It is gratifying to me to play a role in creating an environment in which our students are encouraged to grow and wonder and find their unique voices.
I have a passion for the ballet and enjoy going to performances of New York City Ballet at Lincoln Center as often as possible. I play piano and sing (preferably without an audience!), and I am also a Star Wars fanatic. I am an avid reader of research in education particularly concerning instruction and advocacy for people with learning disabilities. I never tire of learning as much as I can and always welcome a good conversation.
YOU MAY NOT KNOW THAT:
I have two sons who are the light of my life. They teach me new ways of seeing the world everyday. We enjoy going to baseball games, playing Monopoly, movies or just watching an episode of Modern Family.
