Purnell's Head of School, Anne Glass, recently had the honor of speaking at two virtual education leadership conferences. Both presentations focused on the unique challenges faced by diverse learners in the time of a pandemic.
At the Learning Disabilities Association of New Jersey (LDANJ) Virtual Fall 2020 Conference, Ms. Glass highlighted the educational, social-emotional, and mental health needs of secondary school students with learning differences. She explained that learning and wellness must go hand in hand, particularly during times of heightened stress and anxiety. Ms. Glass stressed the importance of support for students with IEPs and the importance of individualized instruction. She also gave advice to parents for navigating the new normal in the coming weeks and months.

During Marburn Academy's Reopening Guidance & Plans for the 2020-21 School Year leadership retreat webinar, Ms. Glass shared with her peers Purnell's reopening plans for an unprecedented start to the school year. She discussed Purnell's taskforce, which prioritized reopening safely with mitigation strategies guided by being mission consistent, data driven and community centered.
