Purnell School is first and foremost a community.
Residential life is a vital and exciting part of your Purnell experience. Here, you’ll feel right at home in our family-like community.
We’ll nurture your growth and celebrate your individuality while building the independence and self-reliance you’ll need in college and beyond.
Our three dorms provide a comfortable, supportive, and meaningful living experience. Dorm parents provide a caring adult presence, and will encourage you to manage your own time and activities. Every evening, you’ll enjoy free time in the common areas, and in the student café and dining hall. It doesn’t take long for friendships to form in our close-knit, family atmosphere.
The Baker Dining Hall is a hub of activity. Centrally located on campus, the Dining Hall serves three meals a day during the week, and brunch and dinner on the weekends when school is in session.
Students and faculty are placed in assigned seating for weekday lunches and dinners so that every adult gets a chance to meet every student on campus.
We use SAGE Dining Services, the leading provider of campus dining for independent schools. Vegetarian and vegan options are available at every meal.

New Jersey/12th Grade
"Before Purnell, I never thought of attending a boarding school. I was just too intimidated. But learning to adapt in a new environment has made me more confident, more independent. I've pushed myself to try new things -- like student government and theatre!"
